Why Gurgaon?
Gurgaon, originally “Gurugram” (Sanskrit for Village of the Guru) has its roots in the Mahabharata. It is said that the city was given to Guru Dronacharya by his pupils, the mighty Pandavas.
Nestled within the state of Haryana, Gurgaon is one of New Delhi's four major satellite cities and therefore considered part of the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region). With 2 million inhabitants and climbing, it is experiencing an unprecedented rate of commercialisation and urbanisation. Dotted with picturesque skyscrapers and lustrous shopping malls, Gurgaon also boasts excellent support infrastructure, ranging from sanitation and public utilities to new roads and ample parking facilities.
Its close proximity to New Delhi and relatively affordable real estate prices are a major draw for home buyers. This new, burgeoning city is connected to the capital and its airports by multi-lane highways with Phase II of the Delhi Metro Project, featuring the Gurgaon extension, scheduled for completion ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Also known as Cyber City, Gurgaon is India's most sought after location for BPO's (Business Process Outsourcing), Call Centres, IT Services as well as other Fortune 500 companies, the likes of IBM Daksh, Genpact, GE, Microsoft, Sapient, Oracle, American Express, Nokia, Pepsi and Adidas to name a few, that have chosen to headquarter their India operations there.
Gurgaon is rapidly embracing modernity and reinventing itself from a once sleepy town, to a world-class city; growth well worth investing in.
